Activity at MEPIS Home

MEPIS community members are excited lately. We are waiting for a surprise. Meanwhile, Danum, who has made very interesting MEPIS remixes (MEPIS Roadblock, for instance), is experimenting with Trinity DE (a fork of KDE 3.5) to put up a retro version of MEPIS 11. It still doesn't have a name, but the community is suggesting some possibilities. I use both MEPIS 11 and MEPIS 8. For some reason, I've been unable to abandon the KDE 3.5 edition of my favorite distro. In this light, Danum's offering of MEPIS 11 with Trinity sounds like a very interesting experiment. I'll be among the first to try it, for sure!

  2. What does Mepis Roadblock do in addition or different than regular Mepis 11?

  3. Sorry forgot also to add; there's a not so publicized distro, Exe GNU/Linux is based on Debian Squeeze with preconfigured defaults for desktop use, using the latest Trinity package (KDE 3.5.13). This distro is distributed to our students on USB key drives.

    1. Hi! Thanks for stopping by!

Actually, MEPIS Roadblock has a newer kernel and a more up to date KDE 4.

Concerning Exe Gnu/Linux, you read my mind! I just downloaded it and tried it already ^__^ Maybe I should post something about my experience with it later.

    2. In keeping it simple-stable, we'd changed the community/learning center default distro to Mepis. Therefore, info on Roadblock has added value for us, as has your previous post in Spanish & English concerning using GNU/Linux. Our staff and students look forward to your experiences with EXE GNU/Linux since we gear our platform along Debian and its close derivatives.
